Singapore-7th April 2025- JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperation of Uganda co-hosted a Demo Day in Uganda on February 25, 2025.
Ten companies, selected from over 130 applicants, took the stage. These startups span a variety of sectors, including Agritech, Cleantech, Fintech, and Healthtech, and all of them are rapidly accelerating their growth. A common trait all these companies share is their firm intention to expand beyond Uganda and achieve further growth.
Ahead of the event, AAIC partnered with the Indian accelerator Hindsight Ventures to provide a four-month acceleration program for the 10 participating startups. Following the event, the day’s activities were featured in various media outlets, including local newspapers, reflecting the significant impact of the event.

Uganda ranks among the top 10 most populous countries in Africa, with an average age of 16, making it a country full of potential for the future. It is also very stable, and its economic development is highly anticipated.
Furthermore, Uganda has seen the rise of startups in sectors like Fintech and Mobility, and there is a growing number of young, entrepreneurial-minded individuals. The government, including agencies such as MoICT&NG, MTIC, and STI-OP(*), has recognized the importance of entrepreneurs and is actively improving and strengthening policies to enhance the startup ecosystem. We are drawn to the entrepreneurs who are sincerely addressing Uganda’s challenges and steadily expanding their businesses. There is also the potential for these startups to expand into neighboring countries.
